闪烁式的交叉剪辑在戈达尔的作品中并不少见，但在这部影片里居然有一种明显的叙事性效果。而所谓「话语的力量」，就体现在对破碎影像的粘合之中。有趣的是，当声轨延宕、话语本身破碎的时候，戈达尔反而停止了剪辑，让长镜头成为了稳定的底色。
